I remember clan koa used to be a thing. I tried joining their channel and it says the channel is restricted. Ok. I don't think there is any option to password a channel, so what is all that about?

They deleted all clan channels with some WC3 serverupdate, that change temporarily made it harder to create clan channels again, till blizz got flamed and they reverted the last change for later.
