Hello everyone, after a long hiatus of several years, here is my fourth walkthrough.

TankSork, the invulnerable ES MDR/PDR sorc

Rules:
* Single player
* Hardcore
* /players8 at ALL times except Countess
* Reruns allowed
* plugY for extended stash, ladder runewords, and world events ONLY
* Respec allowed through in-game methods only (quests or essences, no plugy for respec)

TankSork will start off as lightning to level up fast to 30 and eventually will become the invulnerable ES/orb/fireball sorc we all dream of!

The concept is to stack ~50 MDR/PDR + resistances and to set up the Energy Shield and Telekinesis so that half the damage is absorbed by Mana and the other half is absorbed by HP. This will result in a total life pool that is equal to my HP and mana combined. Thus, I will distribute stat points to have equal HP and mana. With this goal in mind, here is my resulting skill plan:

* 20 ES
* 16 Telekinesis (1:1 hp:mana ratio)
* 1 teleport
* 1 warmth
* 1 static
* 20 frozen orb
* 20 fireball
* 1 cold mastery
* 1 fire mastery
* 1 shiver armor
* Rest in meteor

Here are some gear goals in mind: (goals | alternatives)
* Rings: dwarf star and nature's peace | soj, raven, caster/safety ring
* Amulet: archangel's amulet of life everlasting | rising sun, caster/safety amulet, other
* Helm: mal'd shako | sol'd/mal'd vgaze, rockstopper, other
* Armor: mal'd vmagi | mal'd/sol'd glad bane, iron pelt, jeweler's plate of the whale, other
* Gloves: frostburns | magefist, bloodfist, trangs, other
* Boots: crafted safety boots | silkweaves, marrows, treks, other
* Belts: string of ears | dungos, tgods, snowclash, crafted safety belt, other
* Shield: gerke's with socket | stormshield, whitstan's, sanctuary, moser's, jmod+mal/sol, other
* Weapon: hoto | suicide branch, wiz spike, tal's, occy, other
* Switch: CTA, spirit/lidless
* Prebuff gear: +3 es memory staff, +3 lite ammy, +3 lite circlet, +2 skills armor, lite skillers

Merc will be a defiance merc from A2 normal:
* Merc weapon: insight/obedience as needed, reapers, other
* Merc helm: vgaze, guill's, other
* Merc armor: treachery

How are you going to deal with mana burn basically 1 shotting you and you dealing 0 damage?

I ran -75% cold mastery (lvl 12?) which negates MOST trash monsters resistance down to 0 (zero, not negative) in hell, and the damage was fairly bad. Like 5 orbs to kill a fire monster, bad. I actually just ended up using glacial spike 90% of the time.

In hardcore you focus on survivability first. I can always farm Infinity runes and switch to pure lightning in hell.

Most HCP8 builds are merc-dependent. I will put 16 in TK to start, and see how things go in NM. I can either max it or put 4 pts into a skill for more damage.

The same way I will deal with fire enchanted...very carefully. Let merc tank and kill them from far away. And I'm sure I will be dealing more than zero damage :P

Eth rune came on the next run for Stealth!

First -15% jewel. I hope I get a GG one later for use in my gear.

This guy is too damn hard.

Andy is up next! Have to go exercise and then I will get back to playing. If she isn't too hard, I will farm her a handful of times for upgrades.

:/ prior to aquiring your ideal gear, you'll be doing like 300ish orb and 40% from mastery with a few +skills and like 350-400 fireball damage when entering hell lol.
bugged ES too, you'll be oom most times you get hit in hell mode.
good luck anyways
