My PC seems to always run at 100% Disk usage in task manager. I've tried a bunch of different things but can't get the disk usage to reduce at all

At this point I don't know if my HDD is just done and I should buy a new SSD or what..

Also can't access windows settings through the start menu as well -_- this is on windows 10 btw

Are you actually writing any files or just idling?

Either, when idling it still shows 100% disk usage

if you understand how disk usage is calculated and shown (there's no actual objective way to measure usage like there is for processors) you'll realize this probably means nothing. You could be writing a few kb/s to a log file and it could show up as "100% disk usage." if that's the only thing that's happened recently.

I guess I just noticed because my PC has been slow to load things, especially with multiple apps/browser windows open.

Granted I built it 8 years ago so I guess that's somewhat expected, but it does have some fairly poor lag/load times when running games

any os installation will turn into a literal dumpster fire after 8 yrs if not properly cared for. run online eset scanner or something and defrag/chkdsk. Remove your hundreds of driver doctor's and pando media boosters, run -> msconfig -> go to services tab hide non-microsoft services then hit disable all, go to startup tab and disable as much of that shit as you can. restart after all of this and see if everything is still shit.
