Here's the deal. You can't get more experience if no one is willing to let you drive their car.

Bring someone mechanically inclined with you to go look at cars and buy the first thing that you like the appearance of and won't rattle apart on the drive home OR buy a toyota/honda car of some sort (mileage genuinely does not matter on these if they have been kept up properly).

$2000-4000 is not going to get you anything even close to 50k miles onit, more like 150k.

Keyboard warrioring also will not get you anywhere when you do have a baby face and a straight mexistache.

your local public auction at the nearest big town could be a way to go,
but on those you are gambling. make sure you check it out before placing a bid.
