I'm 19 & just got my license. I want to get a car asap but I've been told to wait awhile by several people that I should get a little more experience before purchasing one.

But considering nobody in my life right now is willing to let me use their car to practice, buying a car to use seems like a good idea to me. After all, it is my money and my decision.

My budget for a used car is $2000-4000.
On top of that, I hear they rape young adults like me with car insurance making it extremely expensive & I also have to account for license plates and any necessary fixes on the car. Any of you ever had this situation when you were my age? or at the moment?

My ideal first used car is to have:
40,000-65,000 mi
4-Door
Automatic transmission
; preferably Honda or Toyota.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

That's also another thing. My parent won't let me.
She told me I'm on my own.

Not gonna find that mileage in your price range. Try finding a crown vic or grand marquis they are reliable but bad gas mileage. If not, just find a camry or civic or something.

Just be cautious of timing belts, not many people service them. Last thing you want is a destroyed engine

'Cause that makes sense. No matter the car, the more mileage the car has, the more prone they are to problems. You don't see dealerships saying WOW! Your car has 150k! It's gonna drive forever! Here's 10k for it! No, they gonna give you 10 bucks and give 10k to the person with 5k miles on their car. Never buy a car over 100k miles. As much as I don't like Ford the 4.6 in the Crown Vic is a decent motor. Obviously won't give you the gas mileage of a Honda but you gotta get what you can find and afford, especially on such a small budget.
