Pet insurance is a real thing. However you will have to pay a premium, deductible and co-insurance or copayment. Also there maybe restrictions on where you can take your pet. Depending on the plan there is age limits on when you can enroll your pet or pre-existing condition restrictions. In my opinion it is not worth it unless there is some type of catastrophic event.

Find a vet subreddit and ask them with pictures. I am sure they could help you out.

Just take it to the pound and say you found a stray.

I've got a Newfoundland that has chronic ear infections. It might not be the answer you want to hear, but visiting a vet truly is the best option. If you're upfront about the financial concern most local places will work with you.

For my Newfie, she ended up having an ear infection stemming from a food allergy. Switching to a better quality brand and a couple rounds of a steroid-based ear cleanser did the trick. I tried searching online and Amazon or OTC 'solutions' for about 6 months without any success because the cost prevented me from making the first step.

It's easy to think everyone who tells you to go to the vet is just trying to give you a cheap answer, but the truth is a dog's ears has so many different types of bacteria, so many possible causes and so many possible damages if left untreated that taking the pup to someone with the proper education really is your best bet.

If you have any questions or want to bounce anything off of me you can always PM.

This could be an infection caused by parasites.
