In replacement of current breaker box?
That’s a lot of connections for a novice to setup.

ya i've added an electric plug box in my garage, and tapped into a box to put in a ceiling fan. but i cant imagine rewiring an entire house. the number of codes you'd have to reference would be a nightmare im sure for a novice. or they'd just wire it terribly.

Rewiring a house by using a crawl space to run the new wiring is one of the easiest ways to accomplish this goal. By using the crawl space, the majority of the cable runs are ran in the open, instead of being fished through finished walls. This method also makes it easier for one person to complete the wiring job without a helper and it significantly cuts the amount of time needed to complete the job .

For the rewire i will need to create two floor plans -- one showing
where the various switches and receptacles will be /are located in the rooms, the other showing how the cables will be routed through the crawl space.

The second plan is very important because cable is expensive, so i will want to take the shortest route possible from the service panel to the first receptacle or switch on each branch circuit. Taking the shortest route also saves time.

In the crawl space, im going to run the cable parallel to the floor joists by stapling the cable to the face of the joist, or the cable may be installed perpendicular to the joists by running it through holes drilled through the joist. The National Electric Code and local building codes require that the nearest edge of all holes be at least 1 1/4-inches back from the nearest edge of the floor joists; and cables stapled to the face of the joists must be set back at least 1 1/4-inches. Cable ran along the face of the joists must be secured with staples at intervals not exceeding 4 1/2-feet and within 12 inches of any electrical box.

The rewire will be done after our panel gets upgraded from 100amp to 200amp.

Atm i will use tandem breakers to open some slots up.
As we are doing other work atm on the house the panel.will have to wait unyil next year.

So for now ill do tandem breaks to give my garage 4 dedicated 20 amp outlets. Only 2 will be used at once but in the future ill just hook up to new panel so i can run the 4.

Looks for nec tips on a few questions i have on my project

Are you saying, y'all are upgrading your panel, and when it's upgraded, y'all are going to add four more circuits? Are y'all re-wiring your box?

As you said, if you choose to drill through lumber, drill through the center mass, that area is neutral. A safe rule of thumb is don't remove more than about 1/4 of the woods width, but, you can look up the specifics based on your dimensions and situation (load bearing/not load bearing/etc.)

But, there should be fairly minimal need for drilling new holes.

So, are you going to need to create access for everything, or is it all open?

What is this going to be used for, what kind of loads are you going to be putting on each run.

Care to take some pictures?

If you want some help feel free to hit me up, I've been pretty busy lately, but I'll try and get back to you within a day.
