I don't use a subwoofer anymore because it consumes the trunk space and it's just a big heavy ass box.

I get a 3/8 inch sheet of spruce plywood and custom cut it to line the trunk because it gives better acoustic properties that way and then I upgrade the rear parcel shelf speakers to something such as Kenwood Exceleon XR-1800 or Apline SPR-60 and amp them to the max. I use a flat eq and when I crank up the volume it sounds as if there is a 10" subwoofer in the trunk.

For the front I get a pair of speakers with great mids and highs.
