So I've obtained a 780 def Sacred Armor

Should I take it to Laz or use the cube recipe and try and ebug it?

It's always a gambling chance However if it is a superior armor you cannot ebug it.

What makes it considered superior?

Take the armor, make sure it is Ethereal, has no sockets, and is not superior. Then, put it in the Horadric Cube with Tal, Thul, and a Perfect Topaz. Transmute the items, and the defense will be multiplied by 1.5, making it 'Ebugged'. However, it is NOT guaranteed to get 4 sockets, 3, 2, etc. If the max is 4 sockets for that item, then there is a 3/6 chance of 4, 1/6 chance of 3, 1/6 chance of 2, and 1/6 chance of 1. If the max is 3 (Like say, Mage plate) then there is a 4/6 chance of 3, 1/6 chance of 2, and 1/6 chance of 1. You can follow the pattern up and down from there.

If u use the cube formula:
1 Tal Rune + 1 Thul Rune + 1 Perfect Topaz + *Normal* Body Armor = Socketed Body Armor of same type

Random number of sockets 1-Max.
You will get 50% more def on all ETH armors.
Ethereal bonus is 50% and the bugged Ethereal armor bonus is 100%.
If you found Ethereal boneweave that had 750 defense, this would become 1000 defense.

500 base defense makes 750 defense ethereal, and 1000 defense bugged ethereal

on a general note, i'd always try sock it. a random eth sa with sox is almost always worst than any elite ebug armor.
also, it's viable for both 3 and 4 sox, so you have good chance to have a usable armor.

And also with 2 sockets. A good Prudence is a nice armor to wear.
