Only way it'll be good imo.

If they got for a TV-14 rating vs TV-MA, it's going to be underwhelming.

I'm going to give it a shot when it comes out and I'm hoping they don't screw it up, but again, I'm not overly optimistic about this. HBO has still been on the only content creator to do shit right. Everyone else has been trying to milk every single fucking penny. HBO seems to always have a blueprint for their shows that has them ending near the height of their popularity. Regular television has notoriously always run shows into the fucking ground and then ended them once viewership has fallen off hard. Netflix seems to be following the same trend and with the exception of a handful of standouts, most their shows have been unwatchable or heading in the direction of CW shows. The Marvel shit is just terrible.

I've heard some fantastic reviews for Man in the High Castle, Goliath and Tom Clancy and I personally enjoyed the first season of Sneaky Pete a lot. From what I've heard on the others (Tom Clancy makes sense, it just started), none of these have an end in site and Sneaky Pete had a phenomenal first season, but then they went full retard on the second season to push a third.... Why? End it good and then if another idea strikes, go with it, don't force a bad ending to ensure a third season, that's how shit gets ruined.

Enough of my rant, I'll be following the progress on this one closely and hopefully it's not another disappointment.

They are spending a fuck ton of money for this show. I think they paid like $250M just for the rights to make it.

LotR has so much lore and great storylines that I honestly feel like this could be great. Amazon wants to compete with Netflix and what better way than to make a series based on the greatest fantasy works of fiction of all time.

The actual budget is aparently 1 billion dollars which is stupid crazy and if this is true this show is going to be crazy good.

The film series made over 2 billion dollars and I bet they milk this series for atleast 8 seasons.

The show is not about the Lotr war of the rings story itself but apendices and untold stories, each season will be based on a different characters story reportedly. Young Aragon is season one.

I see. Fingers crossed then.

Part of the contract that came with the $250 million price tag for the LoTR rights, stipulated that production must begin within two years of said purchase. So, they’re eyeing a release sometime in 2020-2021

None of Tolkien's work was dark by any stretch of the imagination.
