They are spending a fuck ton of money for this show. I think they paid like $250M just for the rights to make it.

LotR has so much lore and great storylines that I honestly feel like this could be great. Amazon wants to compete with Netflix and what better way than to make a series based on the greatest fantasy works of fiction of all time.

This is good news. I'll take any attempt at some fantasy that differs from game of thrones.

Interesting

The bar is set low enough via peter jacksons hamfisted fanfics that it will probably be a hit regardless of how bad it is.

Just stick to source material. Don't squeeze content and condense the story. Run it for exactly however many seasons it takes.

Potential to be the biggest and best tv series ever produced.

I don't know...could be great...Last lotr movie was a yawn for me & those latest, what ever they were called...bilbo movies? nah... The first lotr was great at the time, but last time i watched i didn't like it all that much... Cool movie tho when it was new. Perhaps I got tired of the genre/style...

This, but that's not how these fuckers do anything.

They'll drag it out and turn it into a melodrama, views will eventually fall off and then they'll force a shitty ending.

I hope I'm wrong, but I've given up on anyone outside of HBO figuring out that it's okay to fucking end a show while it's good.

Yeah I remember reading about this several months ago, & as a huge LoTR fan, I’m pretty excited. Albeit a bit skeptical, but still hyped.

The show is not about the Lotr war of the rings story itself but apendices and untold stories, each season will be based on a different characters story reportedly. Young Aragon is season one.
