Yesterday 25 people in the football sector got arrested and interrogated for potential fiscal fraud, illegal transfers and even worse, match fixing.

Most notorious people that got arrested are Ivan Leko (coach of Club Brugge), Mogi Bayat (most known and powerfull football agent in Belgium) and 2 of our top referees (Vertenten and Delferiere).

Investigation has been going on secretely for a long time, but has just been made public as of yesterday.

Shitstorm going on in Belgium atm, it it's true that two referees have been bribed, it could have been the reason why clubs such as KV Mechelen and even OHL got relegated (Moeskroen always managed to survive on the last day with redicolous score lines such as 5-1).

The match fixing is at the moment about 2 matches, they haven't stated yet which matches.

It's definitely only the start, many more investigations are pending.
7 other countries ( I think 7) are also doing the same kind of investigation as of yesterday, so it's a large scale.

It's good that Belgium says fuck it and tries to fight the powerfull agents, hopefully other countries will follow.

UPDATE:

Davy Roef is the first player to be interrogated, he plays for Waasland Beveren (some other players from Beveren are being interrogated, but he's the first known one)

Horrible to hear. Doesn't matter what league or what country it's in, it shouldn't happen anywhere.

It's horrible yeah, but at the same time good that it's finally happening.

If we can get rid of Bayat it can give a signal that we can get rid of those corrupt agents.

"Tijdens het onderzoek doken aanwijzingen op van mogelijke vervalsing van 2 wedstrijden in de degradatiestrijd tijdens het seizoen 2017-2018"

Has been confirmed it's about the relegation matches during the 17-18 season, the season when KVM got relegated on a very bizzare fashion.

Worse and worse now, two clubs have been accused of match fixing; KV Mechelen and Waasland Beveren.

KV Mechelen are facing either relegation to the amateurs or just complete clearing of the club..
