if u get another aio, just make sure you plug it into the aio pump port on ur mobo, instead of cpu. U need to have the pump running at constant speed @ 100%.

I'd recommend the Cryorig out of the 2, it's quieter and more efficient out of the box (it's several years newer design and about $10 more expensive). Also has a better mounting mechanism in my experience. However, if you overclock with the 8700k I would recommend a dual tower air cooler like the dark rock pro 4 or noctua D15. These dual tower air coolers compete well with 240mm AIO's in price:performance ratio, and usually win in noise normalized perfomance due to no pump, but just fans.

As an example....

But with an 8700K I would probably stick with an AIO cooler.

P.S. the more expensive dual tower air coolers cool only about 1 degree more than the Hyper 212 for example. And cost twice as much.

I don't plan on overclocking at all.
BUT I read online people asking if they could overclock the i7 8700k with Noctua NH-D15's and apparently it's capable.
Opinions on the D15?

It's only 1-1.5 degrees cooler, at twice the price and twice the size.

/e Some folk just have trouble with the old tried and true stuff. Can't seem to believe it works as good as it does. Btw, the Hyper 212 EVO is a helluva lot easier to clean too. :)

The DH15 has slightly bigger fans so it is slightly better than the DH14.

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/xCL7YJ/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhd15s <--- For that price and only one fan, get an AIO. ^^

At 100% load the D15 is 3 degrees cooler than the Corsair H100I...

I want to try air this time only because my experience with AIO have been fucking awful.
Tried Kraken first and then the h100i v2 after that. Both had problems. and I keep on reading that they aren't much better.

Here...

...and remeber you'll get a few more degrees running the Hyper 212 with push/pull...aka two fans like the D15.

/e Also the Noctua D15 is 2 inches wider than the Hyper 212. (front to back) Hyper 4.1 inches (with two fans), D15 6.1 inches.

/ee I don't care which you get, I just want you to know what you're getting into. :)

You'll also need two intake fans in the front of that case, if you switch to air cooling.

For your case...

Fan Support Front: 2x 140/2x120mm
Top: 1x 140/120mm (1 x 120mm FN V2 Fans Included)
Rear: 1x 120mm (1 x 120mm FN V2 Fan Included)

I would get two 140mm fans for the front. They will be quieter and push more air than 120mm fans.
