Hi, planing to buy a used pc of one of my buddies friend so just wanna make sure I’m not getting ripped off.

Specs from his add;



He’s asking 800cad which is around 615US.
Is this a fair deal or overpriced?
He also said he spent over 2600CAD when he was building it(not sure how long ago)

Pc will mainly be used for photo/video editing and games like Overwatch, Dota etc

800 is a little on the steep end, but not unreasonable IMO. There's no such thing as a "gaming" motherboard tho. Also, that hardware is around 3-4 years old, give or take depending on when he actually built it.

the gpu would be like having a gtx 1060 6gb

500 offer or walk and that's testing it for a ride

mobo ram cpu I can get for 200< USD all day every day.
windows 10 OS is only 5$ for an oem key and its all you really need.
The 3tb hard drive is probably around 100 used, he probably overpaid for this due to size whenhe bought the
system but they have the highest fail rates of all drives. I would not pay more then 50$ for this personally.
As for the 980 well, as others said its like a 1060, so search that up and assume 75% is value due to being used.
the psu is a decent wattage and may still fetch 40$

End price in ca 500us I'm thinking used and locked

locked is a total fucking con though too, I mean you have to replace parts for a little more umph.

@op I'll tell your boy if he a boy then he needs to beat 500USD otherwise i'd move your ass over to like r/hardware swap or something.
