Definitely need to check out Clive Cussler, though they are more Action/Adventure with usually a central item of importance, a lot like the Indy Jones stories
He has about 14 Dirk Pitt Books written by himself, and then another 25-30 books he either co-wrote or helped produce with other authors (including his son)
