Issue(s):
Hey guys I have a 2011 Infiniti g37x with 97k miles. I put brand new tires on it 1k miles ago and have had vibration issues since that I can feel in my steering wheel, gas pedal, and seat when I go over 70 mph. I have had my tires balanced twice, an alignment done and have had the tires and rims checked with no concerns. The vibration is driving me bonkers and Im curious of what else I can check that makes sense. Car is smooth as glass till I get on the highway and other than a cat-back and intake it's stock.
Thanks all
If it started 1k miles ago when the new tires were installed, i would think its the tires. It could be a factory defect from continental, maybe try the all season falken or bridgestones. I've had a set of tires before that could not keep balance and the weights kept having to be reshifted around. When they rebalanced your wheels, were the weights moved or did it remain in the same general area? Are you running run-flats? If it isnt your tires, i would then move to your hubs and do a wiggle test with the car off the ground to see if your hubs are okay, any play means its wearing down (will cause wobble and excessive tire cupping), lots of play means it needs replacement (will cause really bad wobble and tire cupping), and hubs will create a grinding noise when theyre going bad. I would also inspect the cv axles (youre AWD right? G37X, so youve got 4; 2 front, 2 rear), however, generally, you'd only get wobbling during acceleration, unless its so worn out that its no longer balanced. To test the cv axles, just grab the shafts and wobble up and down, any play means its bad, inward and outward play is okay unless it completely pops out of the joint.
