interview technique isn't covered in university and don't wanna walk into an interview and freeze up if they ask me questions I'm not prepared for

Practice how to interview for an engineering position?

Mate it's like interviewing everywhere else. Speak of programming languages you know and the tools you use them on? Are you good at CAD designs using autodesk products either NX or Catia? Have you used VMware Horizon clients before? In my company Python is big but we also use c+ with IBM's rational rhapsody.
Don't lie to them or they will bend you over with technical questions just say what you know and if you don't know much research some languages before going in and admit when you haven't had a lot of experience in a certain area.
