No reason to merge east and west. Nobody plays west so nobody would even notice the population change.
Merging east and euro gives me flashbacks to dialup-era ping

Yeah, I'm sure someone at blizzard is thinking about it. It's still a horrible idea in practice just like every other "improvement" they've made in the last 8 years or so

Well whoever enters realm first, and second/third gets a prompted namechange. Not that hard.

Even server / ping issues can be overcome if youre creative. But that will need some resources/work so...

Its all speculation but certainly isnt impossible.

like every other games, or any decent system, you do not build a shitty format database and you add ID to the User table.
