16 character CD key codes will no longer run: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=77055164

I have valid 26 character CD keys. But, I can't get the down loaded installers to run.

did you try the solution on that link?

I can get past checking versions; however, once i go to login it says "You have lost connection to Battle.net. Please reconnect."

This is a problem server side. You will have to contact battle.net, good luck!

Are you running in administrator mode? If yes, that doesn’t work and you’re running Windows 10, try administrator mode with Windows 7 Compatability.

I believe the installers are for Version 1.12 which was before the game was optimized for Windows 10, so if you’re running 10, that the above may help.

Have you tried administrator mode with Windows 7 Compatability?

Can you further elaborate as to what happens when you try to run them?

I got the installers to work. Since I am running windows 10 this what I had to do.

1. Go into my downloads left click on the D2 download to highlight it and go to properties.
2. Under to the second tab called capabilities choose windows 7
3. The next or third tab in properties is called security at the bottom of that tab on the right click "Unblock"
4. Now I can run the installer download as administrator

Now I need to fix the checking versions problem.

Tried this work around to get past the "Checking Version" message and no work:

1) Hit the windows key + R
2) Type regedit, hit enter
3) Hit ctrl + F
4) Type diablo, hit enter
5) Remove (delete) anything that comes up
6) Repeat steps 3 through 5 until nothing more comes up
7) Re-install the game

Only tried it once maybe I need to it several times?

Yep exactly. Glad you got that out of the way.

The checking versions issue seems weird. Idk if it’s a registry thing or what not.

As long as you aren’t running any 3rd party software and are installing the game with valid 26 digit CD keys, this shouldn’t happen and makes no sense to me.

Idk if you knew but if you log into the battle net website, Blizzard has a live chat system that may be able to help. They might be able to troubleshoot much better than any of us here since they wrote the game and probably have some better troubleshooting tips that we may not know.

Let me know if you get it resolved!
