I'm debating a mf switch on my hammerdin and was interested in some opinions.

Would it be better to have 475mf% on every kill, with no mf switch in place

OR

355% mf on every kill with 605% on switch for boss kills (Mephisto, Diablo, Baal etc.)

I read somewhere that regular monsters are affected at a lesser rate than bosses when it comes to mf so I was curious which setup would be optimal for mf. As always I prioritize killspeed over mf but given these two scenarios which is optimal?

I’d say constant 355 is ample. You’ll start hitting pretty severe diminishing returns if you go much higher.

But more is always better right? So long as I maintain my killspeed which I do with both setups. I’m just not sure if it’s better to have a constant high mf% or a more moderate amount that gets really high during boss kills

Funnily enough, the answer is the same:

The difference between 355% and 475% is much bigger than the difference between 475% and 605%.

So the answer is clearly 475% on every kill.

Oooo didn’t think about it like that! Thank you very much!

There is no substitution for clear speed. But since blizzard loves to ban you for making too many games, you really can't go wrong stacking mf now since your games need to be a certain length to avoid hour bans.

So if you wanted a sorc with a nice open inventory, high mf, and still have respectable damage you could go this route.

538 mf build

isted occy

isted shako

isted tal armor

tal amulet

15mf tal belt

50mf travs

40mf chance

40mf gheeds

2 x 30 nagel

Either spirit or lidless shield for BP (would put um rune in lidless if you go that route to at least get some res)

I'd make a switch on bosses. Too much mf is counterproductive.

Remember to try to do quest bug boss kills.

I think it comes down to weighing how big the effect of mf is on regular monsters. The real difference between 355 and 475 is greater than 475 and 605 due to diminishing returns as Timophinchen pointed out. However, if the affect magic find has on regular monster kills is negligible than the mf switch would be the better route.....just not sure

+1 for constant 475% mf. For me it becomes inconvenient to have to switch on each boss kill, plus not having switch will free you up for CTA if you want to do stuff like nilathak runs.

Additionally, depending on what areas you like to farm having the flat MF will likely perform better. I've found most of my gg items in the lvl 85 areas like ancient tunnels, the pit, chaos... and it is not realistic to switch for every champion pack you kill.

I did some napkin math and you are basically losing 12% unique drops going from 475% to 355% mf, whereas you are only gaining 8% unique drops going from 475% to 600% mf.
