300hp on the stock turbo from the ea888 engine? lol they blow up stock all the time. wouldnt personally mess with that turbo atall...

i ran ~260hp on my stock k03 (another brand, but still a borg warner core wich isnt known to fail compared to the gti turbos) and all it took was about 20 minutes of full throttle and the bearings where GONE. oil everywhere in my pipings and smoking big time ofc.

I never heard of any issues on the K03 going out on cars. It's been that way for a year and a half (although now the engine is apart for upgrades). But I've had zero issues with the turbo itself. Of course the gen1 is plagued with issues and I've had about them all, but it's been a fun car for a slow turd.

Unfortunately for the gen3 this Audi is using they don't offer a k04 upgrade kit as it's not even using the k03. Most people upgrade to the IS38 turbo off the Golf R/S3.

Has anybody done it? There's a few versions of the Gen3 engine and not all of them are popular with tuners. My '16 GLI has a gen3 but has almost no aftermarket for it as it's a different version than the one in the GTI. No turbo upgrade kits for it and almost no tuners for it. A few people running IS38 that had to go through hell and back for custom tuning on the turbos. Depending on what the A4 has, upgrading any turbo might be a pain in the ass.

well there is a flange that bolts on the "head style manifold" to get a twinscroll t4 flange, but i dont think this in(head)built "manifold" can flow enough for more than a gtx30. downpipe obviously would have to be made if not used in a golf. all the other stuff that works for a golf should work on the audi too like pump etc. vw tuners everywhere here in germany atleast :D

Here companies like APR, Unitronic, USP and etc just aren't touching the Gen3 variants. You can always go custom of course. You'll be spending quite a bit more money. But not too many make actual plug and play kits or tunes for the gen3 here. If they do there you are very lucky.

i dont like "tunes" anyways. i pay 600 bucks for a new map everytime i change some stuff around. in germany all the big companies like Klasen Motors, MTM, Dbilas make shit tunes because they do it for the money and not because they enjoy doing ther work. my mapper mapped the strongest VW 4 cylinder germanys, strongest toyota 4 cylinder germanys, strongest opel 4 cylinder germanys, strongest honda 4 cylinder germanys and strongest audi 5 cylinder germanys. ofc theyre all on aftermarket ecu´s but like mine hes doing stock ecu´s too and hes doing it with passion and always tries to improve.
