why when I use shrines like xp or skill shrine they wear off immediately

Either that or you're an assassin with fade on and the shrine duration is cut down to almost nothing.

There is a bug with Assassin's fade skill , which detects shrines as curses and cut their duration

Cast bos, grab the shrine, then fade again and it will last

It's not a bug. Fade reduces curse duration, shrines are curses.
