Think you're missing the point that he's going to be playing with a kid.... It's not about wanting a "real" multiplayer game. Everyone has different opinions of what they think is good, but you gotta read what the person wrote if you're going to try offering a recommendation. If you're just thinking about what you like and how you feel, why bother posting in the first place?

I’ll be completely honest with you, after two months of playing destiny you will be bored of it. I have been playing bungee FPS games since the original halo and I must say Destiny 2 has fell short of keeping me engaged as a gamer.

ESO might be your best bet simply because there are tons of stuff to do, however you may not be able to get everything done unless you really really really love playing the game. Not sure what the level cap is these days but the real fun in the game doesn’t start until then.

I never played witcher so I will not make any comments about that.

not when its trying to pull off an mmo style game with raids and shit you need a player base for that
if everybody plays 2 months and quits its going to die real fast
and tbh everybody i know that got destiny 2 stopped playing so it seems like a play it a bit and shelf it game

I would say that for games like God of war, or something that’s single player.

Also I apologize, you mentioned Skyrim and not ESO so please disregard my post

I always look at how much time I can put into a game and still enjoy it, or complete it 100%.

With GoW I was able to put in 50 hours, but that was with two play-throughs, one in GoW difficulty, and getting 100% completion on both. I usually burn through single player games, so this wasn't too disappointing for me, and while I would have liked it to be a bit longer, the gameplay was so fantastic that I didn't mind it was a bit shorter than other games. Skyrim gave me about 40 hours to 100% it (achievements) on Xbox when it first came out forever ago. I was a bit disappointed with how short it was compared to Oblivion/Morrowind, but it was still good. Destiny 2 may not keep your fanatical MMO gamers happy, but for someone who works full-time, has kids, or who doesn't have 20-40 hours to game a week, you're going to get plenty out of it. You can log 60+ hours into Destiny easily before it gets boring, people just like whining since you can't play for 1,000,000 hours like you can with WoW lol.

debatable especially playing with a kid where PvP the only good mode in d2 is off the table most likely

PvP has been straight dogshit on D2 almost the entire time. Do you have this gun or this gun? Nope? Guess you're fucked for 4 months until we change the meta. Have fun absolutely destroying everyone who doesn't have that gun, and having to try a little bit vs anyone who does have it. Rinse repeat with new broken meta every few months. It's boring as fuck when there's no variety of predictability to it and you're forced to use the same weapon as everyone else. Once again, for casual people who don't play a shit ton every week, there is plenty to do with the missions, lvling, strikes, raids etc... Maybe they'll like PvP too, but Destiny PvP has been unplayable since Crota in D1, and i t hasn't gotten any better on D2.
