you don't think 15+ center-leaning G.O.P. senators would flip and impeach if Trump were to (indirectly) fire Mueller?
Nope.
The only GOP Senators to really speak out against Trump are retiring or dying (Flake, Corker, McCain, etc).
Congress refused to pass legislation to protect the Special Counsel. They don't give a damn if Trump fires Mueller or Rosenstein. Sure, they might issue him some criticism for a few news cycles, but make no mistake, they are complicit in all of this.
The GOP Senate also refuses to defend their principles against Trump on issues such as tariffs. Bob Corker on the Senate being afraid of Trump: “‘We might poke the bear’ is the language I have been hearing in the hallways. The president might get upset with us as United States senators if we vote on the Corker amendment, so we’re going to do everything we can to block it.” Corker was referring to John Cornyn (R-Texas), Majority Whip of the Senate.
Maybe Collins (R-Maine) and Murkowski (R-Alaska) vote to remove Trump, but even that's doubtful.
Maybe Romney once he takes over for Hatch (R-Utah).
Maybe a conservative like Ben Sasse (R-Nebraska), who clearly does not like Trump but has shut up ever since Trump was elected. But there are not 67 votes in that chamber, even if Democrats get 52 of them. Not even close.
The GOP is the party of Trump.
