What's up new here, didnt think jsp even had this sub forum
Anyway looking to get back into fishing and was just wondering if anyone here had some suggestions for gear

Need rod/reel and pretty much suggestions for anything else I might need

Small lakes, ponds and outlets and stuff, mainly aiming for bass but sometimes for red ear and crappie too

Would like to keep budget under 100$ since I don't see myself going too far into the deep end of it hopefully, but would like best price to performance that I could get, living in Cali USA

Please and thanks to anyone :)

If you are targeting large mouth I will highly recommended a quantum speed freak reel combod with a medium heavy smoke rod, I couldn't count how many bass I've pulled out in a day one that thing.

As far as what to use for lures, I find that a yellow perch crank works really well as well as some top water floaters like frogs or mice

Depending on the laws for your area, you can have a certain number of rods in the water at a time, I always go with 3.

Live bait only, lures are no good 90% of the time.

Low lb test line, like 4-8.

Leaders are only useful for big teethy fish, and often just distract fish from the actual bait.

Early am and late pm are my preferred fishing times.

The laws vary from place to place but in many areas if you have a canoe or a kayak you don't need boat tags or anything as long as you aren't using a motor.

Ps; get a fishing license if you dont have one already, and don't fuck with dnr.

Just keep the line poundage less than 6, unless your fishing for marlin or sharks, and use live bait. Forget fancy expensive rods, just make sure it's/they are open reel.
