Playing styles. Also, I'm not convinced that the Rockets would have put away the Cavs in the finals. The Raps did a good job facing the Rockets last season even though they don't defend the 3 well.

The Raps were in my view better against the Rockets and the Warriors than the Cavs were. Sometimes it just works out that way. I discussed all of this last year, and it's of little importance right now. I *think* the Raps would at least compete against the Rockets in a playoff series but I doubt either team will reach the finals. Again.

It's not about the math. It's about organizational differences. The Rockets are a run & gun team that chucks 3s and utilizes a few key defenders without a plausibly strong defensive make-up. The Raptors are similar but worse at the first thing and better at the second. The Rockets have trouble stopping the Raptors and the Raptors have trouble (but less trouble) stopping the Rockets. So if the Raptors shoot well, it's going to be bad for the Rockets. This happened in a key game last year.

The Rockets matched up better against the Cavs partly because the key defenders on the Cavs squad had low basketball IQs and if Lebron didn't get help they were in trouble. The Rockets can focus on Lebron and otherwise simply outscore them.

Basically the Raps are strong in areas that exploit the Rockets and they know what to do to try to contain their runs.

If you survey how the Raps performed in key categories last year and then look at where the Rockets didn't defend well, you'll see the same thing. The Raps struggle against Lebron and against 3s, and the Cavs focused on Demar.

Don't discredit what the Raps accomplished in the regular season.

Idk, I feel like alot of teams dont give it 100% in the regular season..

the raps gave 90-100% all regular season and it showed in the record while everyone else gave 75% during regular season

then when playoffs come around all teams give 100% and... well thats when the rap gods got swept.

I think most teams give roughly the same amount most of the time. The Raptors played harder in the playoffs but Demar didn't raise his game. As usual. I like the guy, but I don't like his playoff psychology. The Raptors changed strategy in the playoffs and that was a big mistake. I think Casey should have believed more in the team. That could be why he got fired.

He seems to bounce back from injuries without much trouble. If he's out for preseason I wonder if he's just dodging it to make sure he'll be 100% for the season. That way he'll have a great view again of KD winning another championship.
