It's stupid to rush a rookie QB to the field if you don't have to. So many QBs have ended, hurt or straight destroyed their careers because they got rushed into a starting position.
The Browns killed it this off-season, and this is just another thing that they're doing right imo. Tyrod is a solid enough QB that deserves a starting job in the NFL. It's only logical to let an unpolished rookie develop behind a proven player if you're fortunate enough to have one. I personally liked Jackson/Rosen more than Mayfield, but I believe the Browns are giving him his best chance by allotting him adequate time for transition into the insanity that is the NFL.
