router issue:

so i have a really old router and i will buy a new one soon.

it's a dlink dir 615 and lately i've been having major problems with it. it is not up to my internet provider nor is it anything with electricity.
when putting the power cord into it to restart it after internet suddently stops working it is supposed to flash blue on the right side, then eventually have all the orange icons turn green.

but what happens is that i have to unplug the power cord like 50 times or more sometimes in order to get that blue flash indicating that it's booting correctly.

so after it finally works, the router boots up, all icons turn green and internet is fine until this happens again, which is anywhere to instantly losing internet up to maybe 2 hours if i'm lucky..

what even is this? is the power thingy needing to be replaced or what? because atm it feels just inconsistant. never really had this issue with it before

Sounds like a hardware issue with your router, I suggest getting a new router. Dlink is known to have issues in the long run, usually the power supply. Certainly not a top tier router.

You can contact your isp while your having this issue to confirm it is in fact not your isp. If they can help, they will give you suggestions at this time.

Ah I see. Well what can you guys recommend if I don't have the best budget for a new one? sure I'll get a new one but what is good bang for the buck?
Edit: and yeah I contacted them but they couldn't solve the issue. So it's definately broken somehow.. the power thingy I guess, I could probably replace it but I'm def better off getting a new and better router

Haha. Ok sir!
Will do, got any recommendations for good router for the price?

Routers are really my biggest weakness when it comes to tech.

At this point, anything will be an improvement to your situation. Grab the cheapest thing from the store and worry about an upgrade later :D

Are you gonna use wireless? How fast is your internet (what are you paying for)? How large is your place? Where will you place the router? What is your budget?
