My computer's USB ports aren't working, my video card is not dispalying any picture (even after installing a brand new 1050 2gb today) and the power button won't even turn it off.

I understand that the computer is in terrible shape and it's a poor preforming cpu as it is, do you think a new motherboard is the only answer (outside of rebuilding) ????

Like, what do I do

Please help (: thank you

If you have onboard video, take the GPU out and see if the computer will boot into windows or even POST.

Can try ram dimms which I 100% believe is not the case.

But most likely your mobo is done.

so, question for you guys. Can I just buy a new motherboard that fits and we'll be good to go? Like, is it that easy? I'm not sure

my budget for a motherboard and a processor is like $300 but I know i could get a mobo for ~$100 and I'd really want just a $100 amd processor

but could I JUST get the mobo? what does it take to replace a mobo

bump! If I bought a new mobo and installed everything back onto the new mobo and set it up, and of theoretically everything else works properly, is that OK?

or are there other steps to take

You need to find out why the CPU fan is not spinning first. Like was pointed out in your other topic about the same thing.

That might be the whole problem.

Got it! Today I'm going to take the fan out, clean it and and make sure the space between the mobo and fan is working, re install it and make sure everything is plugged in correctly

The fan not working could have led to over heating / damage of the motherboard so it might take a new motherboard and fan - I'm just assuming here

I will check back later, let me know if anyone has any other suggestions

It could have also damaged the CPU itself (in fact, that would be more likely to be the case than the motherboard, although the motherboard definitely could still be a problem).

yeah i noticed the cpu fan not working as well..
Im assuming due to maybe no electricity, that little watch battery in the motherboard died, and or something and maybe reset the bios .

Have you tried turning on the computer without a video card? and using onboard video?
also try taking out the ram cards, start the computer and let it beep for 3 to 5 seconds, and then turn the computer back off and then turn it back on.

other things to check via power switch is making sure that the power button cable wire to the motherboard pins is positive/negative and not sideways ect.
