60-120hz improvements could never even be compared to HDD-SDD improvements. Your talking in the most simplistic way 200% = 10000% increase.
High refresh monitors are for a niche group. Most hardware is in offices and they don't benefit from the screens generally.
I'm not saying were going to stay with 60hz forever but I feel it'll be around for some time to come.
Also switching back to 60hz isn't that huge of a deal as you make it seem, try switching back to a platter drive and reinstall your whole OS.
Harder to transition from 2 or 3 monitors to 1 imo.
I’m not talking about performance improvement %’s
Just the technology should become mainstream
HDDs still exist, will be around for a long time
Apple created a high refresh rate iPad, that’s a good sign for consumer devices
Other examples would be manual transmission to automatic
Analog tv to digital
Dialup and ISDN to cable/dsl/fiber
Etc
Also 1 large monitor is way better than 2 or 3
I prefer my 40” 4k or 38” ultrawide (3840x1600) over triple monitor setups
Once 8k becomes mainstream I’m going to get a 50-60” one to use as my desktop monitor; all the screen real estate without bezels is awesome for multitasking
