Hey folks,

Currently pc is used for console gaming, pc gaming, and watching movies etc. I have one monitor and it sucks switching ports from hdmi/dvi etc and would like to have both console and pc running on separate monitors.

I have the acer gn246hl right now.

I am looking to get a 2nd monitor or make this my 2nd monitor if I can find an upgrade worth its salt. Only gripe I have with this monitor is the stupid 3d display setup that happens everytime I turn it on, despite the fact I press the skip forever button. Would like if it's VESA compatible as I will likely get a mount for both

E/ to clarify I want a 2nd monitor to have a dual monitor set up; but also have the ability to run the pc on one, and console on 2nd. I know I can do it with any monitor but am looking to see if anyone has suggestions on monitors as I am not well versed in them. I don't understand the difference much between IPS/LCD/etc

Do you prefer higher refresh rate like 120hz+?
What is your budget?

Thanks for the fast response.

Budget I'd say would be (after taxes) $500 CAD. If it can be done for less I'd appreciate it but I can bite the bullet if need be.

The one I have is 144hz and I can tell the difference as I was stuck at 60hz. However console is capped at 60hz and if it's used for movies/2ndary purposes I don't see a reason to have it at 144. Know what I mean?

As a secondary/monitor for console I would go for IPS because of the better color production/crispier colors. You can find some decent ones at 150-200$CA
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/BTDzK8/lg-24mp58vq-p-238-1920x1080-60hz-monitor-24mp58vq-p

All my secondary monitors are used "higher end" IPS monitors bought at a great price.
Dell u2413 IPS 1200p, Dell u2412m IPS 1200p, Samsung s24e650 IPS 1200p got these what equals to 65-75$US each.

If you wanna go for something to get closer to your budget you will get the additional bells and whistles. But honestly don't see why for a secondary monitor.

Ok thanks!I'll look into it. I assume this monitor can act as a 2nd monitor and then also have a console attached as well?

Yes put the DVI-D in the PC and HDMI in your console. Change between them in the menu.
