Unfortunately the problem is the DIMM slots are too close to the pci e slot, not the case :(. I believe and evo 212 would fit but I figured I should keep it water cooled.

I don't need more than 10, but I thought it was pretty bad to have single sticks paired with a set. I'm still learning so criticize if necessary 😆

The vid card will fit. ALL of the vid card hangs below the PCI-E slot. It'll be tight, but it'll fit.
The highest a vid card sits, is the center line of the PCI-E slot.

The fan doesn't have to be 100% flush with the heat sink on the evo 212, Can also mount fan on other side as pull vs push.
I doubt it'll be a huge as an issues as u think. You only need about 2.5cm between the socket and ram slot for the heat sink.

You can have issues with mixed sticks but its not super common unless your doing oc's on the ram or high cpu oc's.
Its more like something not to do but rarely causes an issue, like unplugging a usb drive with out safely removing the devices first.

Interesting. The fitment I was talking about is for the gpu though, I'll test it out after work.

I also found a z77 sabertooth for 80ish... wondering if it's worth the upgrade

Generally, Sabertooth motherboards are good. I don't know what condition the one you found is in.

I have a Sabertooth board myself. Been running 24/7 for 5 years straight.

/e As for the Hyper 212 EVO, generally it blocks only the RAM slot closest to the CPU, which in most cases, isn't used anyways.

I eye balled it and thought the fans might hit it. I'll check it for sure when I get home.

The one I found is mint, just not sure how useful the upgrade would be.

Better board = more overclock stability and ?

Sabertooth boards are UGLY. BUT, they have fantastic power circuits and heat sinks.

Personally I would upgrade to the sabertooth only if your really looking to push that cpu otherwise it's not going to be a huge factor.
But if you do go sabertooth then the case needs to support ATX

In his case he's going to be using the ram slot though...
Even still as stated before its when the fan is in a push configuration and only when its 100% lined up with the heatsink.
This is while not even considering the profile of the ram which may or may not even make it an issue.

He'll be fine with an evo 212 just needs to adjust it in worse case scenario.

OP, you should just get a new 16GB SET of RAM, instead of messing around with that gawd awful combination. In which case, you won't be using the 1st slot.

I've got a 1050ti but considering an upgrade to a 6gb 1060.

This is kind of along the lines of what I was thinking.

8gb will be fine as long as you aren't trying to do so much at once
