So in the previous thread I made around 6 months ago prices of the 1080 Ti were still msrp, and within only a few days they skyrocketed due to crypto.
This has finally stopped and prices are normalized so due to the recent comment by Nvidia CEO in response to 1180's release date saying "not for a long time", im deciding to rebuild now with a 1080ti, and upgrade later.

Here's the planned list as of now.

processor: i7 8700k $349.99

Video card: 1080 ti $729.99

Motherboard: Asus rog maxiumus hero X $239.99

Power supply: Seasonic 850w gold $110 PURCHASED ON SALE FOR 74.99

Heat sink: Noctua nh-d15 $86

Paste- Coollaboratory pro $19

Memory: ? Need to update to ddr5 ram for new card correct?

Case: corsair 750d full $149.99

Monitor : LG 27BK85U-W Black/Silver 27" 5ms $600, marked down from $1400

I'll be updating prices since this is a copy paste from months ago.

Need feedback please and thank you.

What RAM you get is determined by the motherboard and somewhat by the CPU. The vid card plays no part.

Ok ty.
I'm having some troubles on the monitor.
I know I want to go 4k at this point, already have a 2k monitor.

The LG i wrote above is on a massive sale, so i assume its a high quality monitor for the price, but what are your thoughts?

Also

Which of these 2 ram sets would you recommend, they are both ddr4 with 288 pin (assuming thats correct for above setup)

The only difference i see is price, but you tell me.

Looking at this monitor or the asus rog swift if i want to spend the extra money for faster response and some added features.
Do you think its worth it?
Also am i correct in reading that freesync wont be completely compatible with nvidia gpu in the sense of variable refresh rate (which is kind of the point in paying extra for the monitor anyway). Because in that case ill just go with the ROG.

Here's your build... https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JFgt3b

Here are the 27" (or better) 4K, IPS monitors... https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#r=384002160&W=2700,5500&m=3,8,13,129&sort=price&p=1

/e I would just change the CPU cooler if I were you.

As for the RAM, I checked on the G.Skill site, the RGB ones are on the compatible list, the Snipers are not.

Oh, here are all the 4K, IPS, Gsync monitors, 27" or above.

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#r=384002160&W=2700,5500&m=3,8,13,129&sort=price&p=1&A=1

When making a build it's usually easier to use PCpartpicker and it's navigation system. You can still buy from anywhere you want though. :)

This is my final offer... :D

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jKqpKB ...and one of those monitors.

As for the thermal compound I would only use the Coollaboratory stuff if you are delidding the CPU.

Ok cool on the ram that clears that up.

As for cooler, im willing to pay the extra 20 for water if it really outperforms the fan. If theres another reasoning please let me know.

Lastly is just the monitor situation which im still wondering about.

If i get this with a nvidia card for gaming though, what can i expect to lose compatibility wise.

Thanks for advice on compound, I wont be delidding unless you recommend it. Not doing extreme overlocking (but some).

Checking on the cheaper acer monitor atm and comparing to lg/asus

Actually the NH D15 is better... https://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/934?vs=915

As for the thermal compound I would only use the Coollaboratory stuff if you are delidding the CPU. I would use the Zalman if it's just for thermal compound.

/e P.S. Corsair now has a 360mm cooler, and it will fit in your case. This will beat the NH D15. ^^

/e Ok, this is really my final offer. :D
