So. Acronis True Image backup software can restore from a backup even if Windows won't boot. I just slap in my bootable Acronis CD and restore from a backup.
I know you can do with USB stick too.

But I like CDs and DVDs.

im with ghot id rather use a cd to backup or anything rather then a usb drive as i lose em fairly quickly.

Yeah, I don't use CDs to make backups. I just use CDs to hold copies of bootable programs LIKE my backup software.
I just don't trust that all USB sticks will be accessible when Windows is not bootable.

To be honest, the BIOS folks are getting pretty good about this, but there are still times when I've had problems with bootable USB sticks. So I will give them a few more years to get it all worked out... even on the older comps.

You know they make SATA optical drives, right? They have for like the last 10 or more years.

/e And an optical drive costs, like $15-20.

Nothing wrong or silly about have both options in a computer. USB and optical drive.
The difference here is, I'm not try to "convince" anyone to do anything...you are. :)
