I Started the game & got into exploring a few weeks ago. Since I started exploring I made some starter isk & figured I would try out some combat! I am a little lost on skill path choices though.. what would you guys recommend as weapons & skills to research for running combat sites?

also what ship would be nice for alpha to get into combat & start learning mechanics? Already have drones maxed out

Watched a few videos and figured I would start maxing my hull, armor, gunnery skills before I try. Also going to try and fit a ship to run a few places before grouping up so I have a general idea

Watch videoes from people like wingspanTT and some of the other combat guys. honestly just find a pvp ship and fit you like and try it out. Two biggest things are drone boats and gun ships.

Do pvp ship fits pretty much work the same for pvm? Scared to loose all my isk in pvp currently since I have very small combat knowledge

it depends, pvm you can guess the type of enemies by what type of pvm you are doing.

PvP you want to be prepared for all circumstances. Watch out if you are practicing against bigger ships, once they are in optimal range they can start popping you very quickly.

Yeah I'm caladari but figured I would go with something fast that has a drone bay & a few spots for some turrets & shields. I heard drones add a ton of dps & I maxed them when I was mining at the start. currently doing tanking then gunnery & fitting my first ship!

LOVING my svipul gunboat, clearing alot of sites very easily and can easily gank a player/stop a gank depending on the fit, i prefer the armor over shielding. with good kinetic resistances makes for a tough-to-kill frigate smasher/obliterator.

The issue with a fit like yours most likely is that you can probably brawl with other frigates, but anything larger like my strat would rip you apart.

Pvm fits never make good pvp fits and pvp fits don't leave a lot of room for looting while doing pvm.

Except for fleets with logi, pvp ships have no place in pve. They'll get wrecked real quick. It's a totally different animal. Depending on the site, you might be able to do a passive shield tank drake with no boosters. Oldschool. Passive shield tank/speed tank ishtars work pretty well for nullsec ratting. Really depends what you want to do. I don't like having to micromanage, so I like doing stuff that you can just let sit other than reactivating guns or redirecting drones while watching videos or something.
