Wasn't totally sure where to put this, just trying to gather some information on people's preferences when it comes to knife sharpening. I'm a member of a couple of knife/blade forums as well, but those guys seem to all be split 50-50 down the middle on the issue so I haven't found much help in deciding.
I just have the Sharpmaker, so I pretty much have one option: 30 degree main bevel with 40 degree microbevel. Is it worth it? I guess it's worth mentioning that I'm using only two steels, s110v and s35vn. s110v can be quite chippy because it's so hard, so my thoughts are that a microbevel would be useful on this knife. The s35vn is softer but can still roll (or chip ofc, but less likely), although a rolled edge in s35vn is a hell of a lot easier to grind out than a chipped edge in s110v, which is an absolute bear.
My question is: Do you prefer a microbevel or no microbevel on your edge, and if you do, which angle do you set your microbevel/main bevel at? General use. Thanks!
