At a museum, adult admission is 14.75 and children admission is 7.00 during one day a total of 1400 adult and children admissions were collected, and 16,775 in admissions fees was collected. How many adult admissions were collected?

A grocery store sells certain candies in bulk. The good and plenty cost 2.17 per pound and sweet treats cost 3.22 per pound, if jane strange takes 2 scoops of good and plenty and mixes it with 4 scoops of sweet treats, how much per pound should the mixture sell for? assume each scoop contains the same weight of candy

1. looked too hard so didn't bother trying to remember

2. considered scoops equivalent to pounds and did this. not sure if right, been ages since did math...could be way off

2lbs x $2.17 + 4lbs x $3.22 ---> $4.34 + $12.88 over total 6lbs --> $12.88/6lbs = $2.87/pound

X+Y= 1400
14.75X + 7Y = 16775

So 14.75(1400-Y) + 7Y = 16775

Solving for Y = 500

What grade lvl math is this now adays?

It's because it's a system of linear equations

Notice how post 4 wrote TWO equations from the situation? We are finding where the two equations intersect (graphically) or where they are equal (algebraic)

Basic ones are introduced in 8th grade
More advanced in 9th

Then nonlinear in 10-11

Transcendental in 12

This is more than just solving for an unknown.

I can understand electrophysiology but I'd probably fail at replacing a light bulb. There's many ways to be smart, but only one way to be stupid.
Condescendence gets you nowhere and will gain you no fame in this subforum.

@OP don't throw your forum gold away. In every non-time consuming subject people are very likely to help you for free. Just essays and stuff require ef ghee.
