i had suspected windows 10 was the cause of constant freezing problems on my computer lately (everything on desktop including mouse/kb freezes but pc keeps running) but i'm starting to suspect it's the psu

does anyone know any good tools to diagnose psu issues? i've had this powersupply for about 8 years now

hwinfo check voltages 12v/5v/3.3v and if they are in teh 10% tolerance

it's sporadic

sometimes within a few seconds of starting up
sometimes after several hours of usage

I think YUP meant, check the 3.3, the 5 and the 12 volt readings of the power supply, over time with HWInfo.
HWInfo shows minimum, maximum and average readings on those voltages.

So if we see a serious drop or spike in the minimum or maximum PSU voltages over time, we can then say.l..yeah, it's probably the power supply.

In addition to that you can run a stress test to push the PSU, a working unit will still be within a tolerance range at high loads.

Yeah. You would have to run a stress test. Cause HWMonitor forgets everything when you close the program.
In the case of a freeze, you would have to have it open when the freeze occurred. But you can shrink down the window so it isn't obtrusive.
