Researching paladin bp for faster block rate.

I found results indicating the following:

Paladin (With Holy shield)
FBR Frames
0% 2
86% 1

Paladin (Without Holy shield)
FBR Frames
0% 5
13% 4
32% 3
86% 2
600% 1


This is unclear because Holy Shield block rate is based on Skill Level.. and on top of that, adding a Smite skill point adds 2% additional block rate.
So clearly a lot of variability..

1) If I want to achieve 86% block rate bp, do I need 86 faster block rate ON TOP of holy shield? Or if holy shield gives, say 50% fbr, I would then only need 36% additional to hit bp? Or I could add points into smite to increase that base 50% fbr to, say 60%, so I would only need 26% extra fbr?

2) Does max holy shield skill paired with hoz shield give max faster block rate % ?

I believe it just changes the Frame Breakpoints to

0% 2
86% 1

so you would need 86% from gear to get 1 frame.

impossible to obtain with HoZ. HoZ "Shael" + GA would only be 80% FBR.... 6% short.

You could obtain 86% by using GA + Griswold's Honor shield, a 3x shael'ed paly shield, or a few other non-pally shields.

If you want to hit that 86%FBR.

Use Shael’d HoZ + Guardian Angel unique armor.

86%FBR

Once you have maxed holy shield, you need to add as many dexterity as you need until you get 75% block.



By the way, a shael rune in a Hoz is low. Um rune is higher that a shael rune and your pally won't be the top with only an exceptionnal unique armour.

block rate is dirrent than block chance

think of faster block rate as frames you are stuck in a block animation from an incoming attack.

having even a level 1 holy shield gives you a 2 frame block rate. 86 is impractical

Yes, it is. Resists are always more helpful that a very low rune. All you need to do is put points in dexterity until 75% block once your holy shield has been maxed.
