Just as an extension to this strategy:
When you're part of an 8 man party, don't let one person search while you all afk in town. Travel as a group of 8 down each of the 4 paths. This has three huge benefits:
1. You are safer as a party compared to one man by himself.
2. Once you reach the end of each path, you can all verify whether or not the summoner is there. Sometimes, a single person will make a mistake but eight people can give high-level confirmation.
3. One person in your party can carry an inventory full of keys. (Some of the chests are locked!)

But, the right way for the summoner is usually the first guess once you're in arcane sanctuary via the waypoint. If you skip your first guess, the way taken will be most of the time wrong.

first guess = 25%
second guess = 33%
third guess = 50%
fourth guess = 100%

your chances increase as you guess, not the other way around.

Explain where did you get these datas.

1 out of 4 = 25%. You fail 75% of the time.
IF you fail on the first one you get 1 out of 3 chances of being right = 33%
IF you fail on the second path you get 1 out of 2 chances of being right = 50%
IF you fail all 3, there is 100% chance or 1 in 1 chance of summoner being there.
