The Trump administration just issued new 10% tariffs on 200 billion of Chinese goods after midnight. China quickly retaliated with 5 to 10% tariffs on 60 billion of US goods.
The trade war with China could be Trump's biggest gamble of his first term. If he manages to to win this trade war and strike a new trade agreement with China, it's a big selling point and win for America. If China doesn't budge and the prices of domestic products continue to rise, it could hurt the economy and damage his re-election bid.
Fiscal conservatives, what say you?
A trade war has always been a dumb idea. The only thing its really lead to is a $10billion subsidy to farmers and higher prices on consumer goods.
