Two words: Family movie.

I lowered my expectations as much as humanly possible, and it still failed miserably to live up to even those. Fucking rough.

That is a damn good movie. But it was kinda forced (guy reveals his identity). I didn't like the lame romance between those two (dude says, " i love you"). That shining scene was epic! Love that message at end. Real life > all.

Expectations based on the trailers or the books?

My expectations were lowered based off the trailers being terrible, but my original expectations were high based off my enjoyment of the book.

They did a couple okay things, the whole Shining bit wasn't bad, but they just shit the bed so hard on a handful of easy to do things, and it just kept getting harder and harder for me to look past as it went on.

Yeah, they changed way too much.

Diato doesn’t get thrown off a balcony & killed like in the book
He already knows diato & shoto from the first scene, unlike in the book
He instantly meets art3mis, unlike in the book
There’s no Halliday library equipped with a secret helping butlers in the book
Wade doesn’t bring down the shield via an elaborate scheme, like he does in the book, instead art3mis does it in a lame way
All the challenges & eggs are different in the movie
In the book they don’t met irl until the very end
The end battle was way more badass in the book

did we watch the same film?

It’s hard to really enjoy it, if you’ve read the book, imho

At the theater now for this one. I don’t really have any expectations other than I know it will be a cgi whore fest, not to keen on that idea
