U.S. CEOs warn of harm from Trump administration's immigration policy

“Together, the USCIS actions significantly increase the likelihood that a long-term employee-who has followed the rules and who has been authorized by the U.S. government multiple times to work in the United States-will lose his or her status,” the letter said.

“At a time when the number of job vacancies are reaching historic highs due to labor shortages, now is not the time restrict access to talent,” the letter added.

The government should not change the rules in the middle of the process as it could result in unnecessary costs and complications, the executives said in a letter to the Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

Nielsen, a Trump appointee, told reporters at a White House briefing on Thursday that the administration was only strictly enforcing the law.

“This administration did not create a policy of separating families ... What has changed is that we no longer exempt entire classes of people who break the law,” she said.

Alright, Kirstjen Nielsen. :D

U.S. judge says lawsuit over married immigrants' arrests can proceed

Wolf on Thursday rejected the Justice Department’s claim that he lacked jurisdiction under federal law to hear any lawsuit challenging the authority of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which ICE forms part of, to enforce a removal order against an immigrant.

Apparently, we have judges that think they can tell the Justice Dept. where to go.

Trump administration seeks to end agreement on child migrant detention

Quote

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Trump administration said on Thursday it plans to withdraw from a federal court agreement that strictly limits the conditions under which authorities can detain migrant children, and proposed new rules it said would enable it to detain minors during their immigration proceedings.

The administration has long targeted the Flores Settlement Agreement, a 1997 federal consent decree that places significant curbs on how long and in what conditions the government can detain migrant children as it seeks to dissuade migrants from crossing the U.S. southern border.

The regulation released on Thursday, if it goes into effect, would enshrine some of the protections while circumventing others, by allowing the government to detain children in facilities not licensed by state authorities to hold minors.

Good for Trump. This nations illegal immigration problem cannot be addressed, with spurious rulings filled with loopholes, floating around. Especially rulings with loopholes that "attract" even more illegal immigrants.

I hope the next Democratic president goes full Jade Helm and sends white conservatives to FEMA camps and takes their children and exports them to Saudi Arabia.

There are organizations all over the US that separate children and parents (citizens, both), when parents have broken the law.

But when an illegal alien breaks the law, we "shouldn't" do this. ????

I've never supported authority breaking up families over minor law violations

There are ways to reasonably and more importantly humanely detain people at the border especially when involving children

Trump previously amplifying enforcement tactics and now going around to do it again is not justice it's an injustice

It's an overreaction and abuse of power based on a love of mistreating brown people in the name of fear

I hope this adds to the enthusiasm on the left
