The last game they played the Lakers and Jimmy took a few shots, elbow to the head, jammed a couple fingers, his whole hand was tapped up. He was limping around the court all game.

I believe it was a legit excuse, if there was enough time he would have forfeited his spot but it was just a couple days away.

if you give up your spot

does it mean you were not selected and doesnt show on your record?

maybe he just wanted the fame and the 'all-star' next to his name

His all-star credentials for 2017/2018 season should be stripped off his record imo

I know some NBA contracts have incentives and bonuses based on awards like all star, all NBA, MVP, etc.

Don’t know about Butler’s specific contract but if giving up his spot prevented him from making more money in the future I don’t blame him at all. From what I can tell from PG13’s contract, he qualifies for a bonus for being selected as an All-star, but I don’t think it stipulates that he has to actually play meaningful minutes lol

Really, what does it matter? I think exhibition games and all star week are pretty boring no matter who plays

Would like to know le facts. He looked pretty rough during the intros, and I didn't think he'd play but I assumed he had the flu. Was he hungover--partying with Harden? If so then I think he should face a penalty. If he was just plain sick then I don't think he should face a penalty.

This is their only break week in the year and you guys all think they owe you an extra game? Who gives a fuck if he sat out? Oh no you only get to see him 82 times this year instead of 83

It was 25k. That's pocket change to Jimmy.

For how much Thibs runs our players into the ground, I wish KAT had sat out too

Via Pro Basketball Talk, while some speculated Butler did not want to play after imbibing too heavily in the L.A. nightlife over the weekend, D’Antoni confirmed Butler’s explanation.

“He was tired and he just felt like his legs weren’t there,” D’Antoni said after Sunday’s game. “He didn’t practice yesterday or play today. You have to respect that. He plays hard. Sometimes your body just needs a rest.”

This is a rather historic cluster by Minnesota. Dating back to NBA expansion in the 1966-67 season, only three previous teams placed all five starters among the top 40 in minutes per game. The St. Louis Hawks did it twice (1967-68 and ’69-70, after they had moved to Atlanta). And the ‘86-87 Boston Celtics did it en route to their fifth Finals in seven seasons.

The Wolves are on pace to become the fourth, with their starters playing a combined 177.2 minutes per game, most in the NBA by a considerable margin and not that far off that Celtics team’s all-time mark of 190.0.

The 2017-18 Wolves? Their starters have played 69.6 percent of Minnesota’s available time so far (6,563 of 9,435).

It's Allstar weekend, give him a fucking break. Who cares even if he pocketed 25K... Not a big deal, only people talking about it, are the same fans who couldn't give a shit less about Allstar weekend, but just want something to bitch and moan about to feel validated with their shitty lives. Like if the players don't give a shit, why should you?
