It says battle.net is unable to properly identify your application version..
I tried running as admin too..

Sounds like your current patch may be outdated. Go to https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/7836 and select Diablo II from the drop box and proceed with the onscreen step to manually download the current patch.

Running compatibility mode for winxp and as admin fixed for me. The game would then download the patch.

I think the game already downloaded it when i tried entering thr b.net
It says 1.14d..

Could this patch problem only?

E/ it says this patch does not need to be applied to the game. The version of the game have installed is more up to date than this patcb..

Maybe should i uninstall then download from the link that Stories posted ,instead of updates that pop up when i entet b.net ingame?

I entered the key in blizzard and tried downloading without the cd but still have the problem
I think all my patches are done.. i dont know why it still doest work

Try running the game as an administrator. To do that, right click the desktop icon used to launch the game and select that option.
