mobo is not that hot, if it was ur pc would auto shut down

bios update could fix it, but dont worry about it, could be broken/missing sensor aswell

As someone mentioned...it's definitely a sensor problem

But if your CPU is spiking at 100+ C, get your money back or forget the warranty and fix it yourself. AKA, better CPU cooler.
The CPU will not last at those temps.

Thanks for the updates guys, hadn't checked back in a while but I haven't sent it in yet, I'll try HWmonitor and see what it says.
You guys think I should risk opening case and seeing if there's any issue with CPU fan being seated poorly or something, or do you imagine they would somehow be able to tell I opened it up and deny me the warranty as a result?

Also if it is poor sensor on Mobo, is that something I can just live with? What if it has issues later and I'll be unable to tell because sensor is always giving false positive to begin with?

edit: seems like King Atrhur answered the question about opening it up in another thread, so I guess I won't be doing that. Will report back with HWmonitor SS in a bit though, might as well do that before boxing it up.

Oh yeah, that "aegis II" program is a new one I wasn't familiar with but it was part of the setup process, and it seemed to track temps as well. All I can say is the CPU would spike at the same time the fans would become insanely loud, and that Aegis program would send me an alert when the temp would spike to 100c, so Speccy and Aegis both were on the same page regarding those temps.

Here's the HWmonitor scan, pardon the random red arrows, was just trying to make it easy to see where the first page left off.

You can tell I took the screenshots a couple seconds apart though because the CPU cores are literally spiking on the second page already, and this is within a minute of cold booting the PC.

So yeah I was right, it's an invalid sensor on the motherboard, nothing to really pay attention to there. But your CPU on the other hand is like yupitsmeh said, you'd need a better cooler. It shouldn't be spiking like that. Either dried out paste or the cooler isn't seated properly. Normally an easy fix if you have extra paste, but not worth the trouble if you can just get it back to them.

I've got paste, wrist strap, everything I need but, it's just this warranty risk, and not knowing if this is the guaranteed issue I'm having or not.

Is an overheating CPU always just a problem of the Cooler / Heatsink / Paste / Airflow / Mobo (some combination of these) or can a CPU heatup because the CPU itself is defect?
