Zebulon was my first serious attempt at getting Guardian in Diablo II a little over two years ago, and I failed miserably. I died in Act 1 Hell, remade him and died in Act 1 Hell again, then remade him a third time and died in Act 2 Hell. I walked away from Diablo II entirely for a long time, unsure if I would ever make another attempt to finish the game. My attempts were recorded here: Zebulon the Bone Necro

I successfully achieved Guardian with Steve the Paladin, and that success has motivated me to come back to this project and finish it once and for all. Will I learn from my past mistakes and finally complete Guardian Zebulon, or will I cry hot tears of frustration one more time? Let's find out!

In the past I have leveled using teeth as my primary skill, which necessitated an early respec sometime in Nightmare because my bone prison would end up so weak. This time around I am going to try being a melee Necro until level 18 when I get bone spear. In order for melee Necro to happen I need a weapon, so I got some early gold and went shopping. Grabbed this bow for my future merc.

Chopping up Blood Raven, had to go back to town once for mana potions.



Axe is now fully blinged out. I would prefer a sapphire and two topazes, but rubies are what dropped first.



Got a map with Rakanishu right next to the waypoint, I will run him for some starter gear and early levels.

Treehead can't handle my axe swinging fury.

Saved Cain and got a level up.



The reward was not bad actually, using this for now.



Merc bow finished right before Countess.

Countess went down quickly, kill speed is still really good.

Cursed + cold enchanted is no joke for a low level melee.

Hit level 18 and finally got bone spear! Overall I would say the melee necro experiment went really well. Kill speed was maybe a tiny bit slower than teeth spam, but I didn't have to worry about chugging mana potions so it was probably about even. Definitely worth it for the saved respec.



Going shopping for some caster gear, grabbed this shield.



This was the first halfway useful wand I saw at Akara, I will use it as a placeholder for now.
