Hey!
I dont really know how to introduce that but still

my cousin is going to school and she needs a laptop.
not something too bonbon, just something that wont die in a year

we dont really know what to look or how to find a good deal with all of the stuffs on the market

she will use it for school and maybe for some stupids games like Sims lel

any idea? what do I need to know? what do I need to look into to find a good laptop? etc

(i dont think she will build a computer herself, sadly)

I had serious trouble finding a decent $800 CAD laptop.

If you really need the low budget, you can get something like the Acer Aspire E5 in a variety of configurations in the ~$600 CAD range.

If you can find out whether she needs Windows, you can also opt for a Chromebook and either use Chrome OS or install Linux on it. This could allow you to get a better machine for cheaper, e.g. the Asus Chromebook Flip 302CA can be had for ~$600 and the specs are very good.

Definitely shop around for used or refurbished products as well. Stuff like the ASUS Zenbook can probably be found for fairly cheap. Also definitely look into Lenovo Thinkpad laptops used/refurb (especially T-series).

But step #1 is to find out what operating system she needs/wants as this will narrow down the options considerably, and whether or not Chromebooks are on the table.
