Open wounds at level 30 isn't very good at all, since open wounds damage is based on clvl. It can be used to counter rep vs a rep-abuser though.

Does 42 dmg, which is about twice the dmg of a trap
It may not be worth the loss in life, esp for tvt, but i like my dfs to have some effect.
The obvious alternative is whitsans though, not rhyme imo.

You would pick the duel where I had the wrong boots on so the traps wreck me lol.
