I heard something about blizzard banning a lot of accounts. Have they done anything to address or combat the botting situation? Or will people still be mass botting next ladder?

they did a ban wave about a month and a half ago and ALL of the baal botters have dissapeared completely ... they might not have got all of them, we'll never know. but at least they did something right?

There definitely was a mass ban. From what it sounds like, they stopped the ability to run multiple bots at a time as well. Should keep prices VERY high this reset which is GREAT news to me as I personally enjoy the mf hunt.
